I
My next single ‘Movin’ with the wrong crowd’ is dropping on 1st May, and I would love you to pre-save the track on the link below!
It’s a bluesy-Motown inspired track, recalling the messages our parents and elders used to shout at us to help keep us of trouble. It was tough times back then and young people are still vulnerable today. For example,Knife crime affecting children and young adults, has become a major topics of concern in recent years,(though let’s face it, it’s been an issue for a very long time). Recent statistics from the University of Bristol (BBC Bristol News 21st April 2026) showed in England that between 2019-2024,145 children died from knife related assaults, with an average age just 14 years old(!)and Black youngsters were disproportionately impacted and represented amongst those stats. Yesterday, 22nd April, also marked the anniversary of Stephen Lawrence’s tragic death in 1993 from a knife attack in SE London, and many of us can remember the impact of this traumatic event to this day. Back in the day, the organisation l worked for had as its motto, “Advise ,assist, befriend”. It sounds a little corny now, but in truth, any support and hope we can offer young people in these challenging and turbulent times must be a good thing...... |
